The Wherry Mine
A unique mine on a big elvan dyke near Penzance, access was via a small shaft which was only dry at some parts of the spring tides. The shaft top was protected by woodwork like an old wooden ship. Some workings were within 3 feet of the sea! A “Wherry” was a olden craft used off the coasts of south west England and Ireland.
