Logan's Rock
Dr. Borlase said that “it is impossible that any lever, or indeed force, however applied in a mechanical way, can remove the rock from its present position” but Lieutenant Goldsmith RN and a dozen sailors landed from his cutter “The Nimble” and dislodged the 65 ton rock. The Admiralty compelled him to replace it at his own cost in 1824.
